Blackbody V-LUX OLED desk lamp hands on review

Blackbody announced their new Smart OLED lamp family back in September 2011, and they kindly sent us a V-LUX OLED desk lamp for a review. The V-LUX is an OLED desk lamp with two long rectangular OLED panels, designed by Bertrand’s ID Medas. The V-LUX comes in 4 colors – gray, red, black and white – they sent me the black one. Each OLED panel is 100 cm 2 in size, has a color rendering index of 80 and a color temperature of 3200K. The V-LUX consumes 2.8 W and its size is 35 (H) x 25 (W) x 46 (L) cm. More details on Google’s upcoming Nexus One phone

We’ve got some more details on the upcoming, non-official-yet Google phone. It’ll be called Nexus One , and will have a 3.7" WVGA touch AMOLED. It will be offered by ‘invitation’ only at first, but Google may team up with a carrier later one, we do not know yet

The Samsung Moment is a very popular phone – at least over at Amazon.com , where it’s currently #4 best selling smartphone . It’s more popular than the Palm Pre (also on Spring, and costs the same, $79.99). The most popular smartphones, by the way, are two BlackBerrys ( Bold 9700 and Curve 8900 ), and Motorola’s Droid .

LG announces a 2.6mm thick LED LCD TV

LG has announced a new LED LCD TV, that’s only 2.6mm thick. That’s even thinner than Sony’s XEL-1 OLED TV ! The new TV is 42", weights only 4Kg (!) and has a 120Hz refresh rate

Doosan to develop and commercialize OLED Lighting

Another company is starting to work on OLED lighting : Doosan Corporation Electro-Materials. They have signed an agreement with the Korean Institute of Industrial Technology (KITECH) to co-develop the OLEDs. They plan to use white phosphorescent materials that feature high efficiency and long lifetimes. Another company from the Doosan group ( Doosan DND ) has been working on OLED production systems since 2004 (although we haven’t heard any news from them in quite some time).
