Samsung announced the Galaxy A-series family of fashionable phones. The 2017 editions all come with Super AMOLED displays, premium metal frame and 3D glass back. There are three new A-series phones: the Galaxy A3 (4.7″ 720p), the Galaxy A5 (5.2″ FHD) and the Galaxy A7 (5.5″ FHD). Samsung launches its Galaxy A-series 2017 edition, all with Super AMOLED displays
Samsung announced its Galaxy note 7 last week, and our friend Raymond Soneira from Display Mate has published a comprehensive review of the Note 7 display. The Note 7 has a 5.7″ 2560◊1440 (518 ppi) flexible Super AMOLED dual-edge display – which DisplayMate says is the best performing mobile display ever tested. This is hardly a surprise – Samsung’s OLED displays have been advancing at a very fast rate , and have surpassed the best LCDs on all parameters (except price, that is). Displaymate says that the major display enhancements introduced in the Note 7 include a new wider color gamut and new HDR mode specifically for 4K videos and a record peak brightess of over 1,000 nits. Samsung launched three new smartphones today – new 2016 editions of the Galaxy A7 , Galaxy A5 and Galaxy A3 . All three new phones sport† Super AMOLED and will launch in a couple of weeks in China (and globally later on). So first up we have the The Galaxy A7 (2016 edition) – a large smartphone with a 5.5″ Full-HD Super AMOLED display. The A7 uses an octa-core CPU, 3GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, microSD slot, 13 MP camera, fingerprint reader and a metal and glass body. Samsung’s Z3 ist he company 2nd-gen Tizen (v2.3) phone that sports a 5″ 720p Super AMOLED display, a 1.3Ghz quadcore CPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB of storage, a microSD slot, dual-SIM (3G) and a 8mp camera. The Z3 will ship towards the end of October 2015.
New OLED gadget: Samsung Z3
Samsung’s Gear VR (developed in collaboration with Oculus ) was first launched in September 2014, but now Samsung announced the consumer version of the VR headset. The new model is compatiable with several Samsung Super AMOLED smartphones – the Note 5 , Galaxy S6 , S6 edge and S6 edge+ . The new edition is lighter by 22% and features an improved touchpad. The Gear VR will ship in the fall of 2015 for $99.

BLU’s Pure XL is a large smartphone that uses a 6″ quad-HD Super AMOLED display. Other features include an octa-core 2Ghz CPU, 3GB of RAM, 64GB of storage and dual-SIM. The Pure XL will launch exclusively on Amazon on September 29 for $349.

New OLED gadget: BLU Pure XL
Samsung’s Gear S2 is a Tizen-based that sports a 1.2″ 360◊360 (302 PPI) circular Super AMOLED display. Other features include a dual-core 1 Ghz CPU, 4GB of internal memory, several sensor and a 250 mAh battery (300 mAh on the 3G model). The Gear S2 is offered in two models, the regular and the “classic” which has a black finish and is smaller and lighter. Samsung did not yet announce the release date or pricing information.

Last month Samsung launched two new AMOLED tablets , the Galaxy Tab S2 9.7-inch and Galaxy Tab S2 8-inch . Those two high-end tablets will start shipping on September 2nd, and you can now pre-order those tablets: the 8″ one for $399.99 and the 9.7″ one for $499.99 (those are the Wi-Fi only, 32GB models). Both tablets adopt QXGA (2048◊1536) Super AMOLED displays (263 PPI on the 9.7″ and 320 PPI on the 8″). Other features include an octa-core CPU, 3GB of RAM, 32/64 GB of internal storage, 8MP rear camera, LTE (on some models), Android 5.0 and a 5,870/4,000 mAh battery. ZTE announced two new devices today, both with AMOLED displays. First up is the Axon Watch , which is a smartwatch based on the Chinese TenCent OS (which means it will be sold only in China). It sports a circular 1.4″ AMOLED display (400◊400) a heart rate monitor, GPS and 4GB of internal memory. The second device is the Axon Mini – the world’s first smartphone that features a force touchscreen. It uses a 5.2″ Super AMOLED display – and that’s the only information ZTE released at this stage. The Nice guys at Samsung Israel sent us a review unit a few weeks ago – and here’s our hands-on review.
