Samsung and LG to introduce 55" OLED TVs at CES 2012, products shipping in July 2011
Nov 21st
According to reports both Samsung and LG Display plan to introduce 55″ OLED TVs at CES 2012 (January 10). This is not surprising as this was announced before . According to the new reports, both companies want to introduce the products before the 2012 Olympics (which is a big event towards which many consumers buy a new TV) – which means we can expect those OLED TVs shipping at around July 2011. LG OLED TV prototype The same reports re-iterates the old rumors regarding an Apple OLED TV . I’m still skeptical on this because in 2012 OLED TV capacity will be low (LG for example says it will be able to produce around 30,000 panels per month ) – not enough for Apple. Samsung will also be producing their large panels in a pilot line and will not be able to mass produce these panels. read more

Rumors surface on a Galaxy SIII with a Super AMOLED HD and an OLED iPhone
Sep 21st
Samsung’s Galaxy S II is just starting to appear in the US , and it’s already time to start speculating on its successor – the S III. According to an anonymous user in a message board, the S III will have 2 Ghz quad-core processor, the latest Ice Cream Sandwich OS, a 10mp camera, NFC and 1080p 60 fps video. But we’re mostly interested in the display – a 4.65″ Super AMOLED HD display offering a strange 1280×1024 resolution (352 ppi?). These specs seems very optimistic, especially the display. The first Super AMOLED HD device, the Galaxy Note phone has a 1280×800 resolution on a 5.3″ display (using PenTile technology ). This means that Samsung will need to improve the ppi quite a bit. And the 1280×1024 resolution doesn’t really make sense, does it? read more
