LG’s 15" EL9500 OLED TV is now shipping in the UK

Amazon.co.uk is now listing LG’s EL9500 OLED TV . It costs £1970 (around $3000). This is rather strange as LG has announced that it’ll start shipping the TV in europe in May. Perhaps this one is actually shipping from Korea. In any case, a great opportunity for brits to get that cool 15″ OLED TV … LGE EL9500 The LG EL9500 has a 15″ OLED panel with 1366×768 resolution, 100,000:1 contrast and a response time that is lower than 0.01msec. It’s only 1.7mm thick.

Samsung to announce a new Super-AMOLED phone and content deals

There are reports that Samsung are set to announce a new Super-AMOLED phone soon (in the CTIA exhibition). The phone will be called the Galaxy S and it’ll run Android on a 1Ghz processor. Samsung are also working on “Super AMOLED optimized” content: full-length movies and TV shows and also books and magazines. Sounds interesting. Via Engadget

Adam Wendel, designed a futuristic Iron for clothes that resembles a computer mouse but is much bigger. The Infinity Iron with an ergonomic look boasts an OLED touchscreen which shows a database on temperatures real time. The iron also turns off automatically to prevent accidental burning of the clothes. The iron also a lot of convenient features which are explained in the image below. read more

The company eq-3 ag shows at the light and building event the lighting switch of the future. The lighting switch can work wireless and does have a full graphic OLED Display. The display shows name and room of the things you want to control via this switch.

Philips Lumiblade Reflections will be Available in the Market

Last year we wrote about Philip’s “You Fade to Light” Lighting installation in London wherein they used a total of 1064 Philips white Lumiblade OLEDS that works as a mirror and a curtain of lights. Recently, Philips announced that a version of the mirrorwall will be released for purchase in limited quantities. This version will be called Lumiblade Reflections.

Here’s something for you: Make your own OLEDs at home. Researchers from the University of Wisconsin has published a nice DIY guide for OLEDs: using a fan, duct tape, glass and power supply. And some stock of Ru(bpy) 3 ](BF 4 ) 2… This is rather cool and reminds me of that MIT professor who showed us how OLEDs work using a pickle … Via Gizmodo

The Jet Ultra has an updated UI (TouchWiz 2.0), Wi-Fi and USB and TV-Out. It also has 2Gb of internal memory and a microSD slot. Samsung Jet Ultra The Jet Ultra will arrive in UK’s O2 at around May 2010 and will be free (with a plan). Samsung’s Plans on OLED Development and Production

While Sony has declared that they are going to stop selling OLED TVs in Japan, Samsung has announced their South Korean factory will accelerate the commercialization of OLED notebooks that will be launched this coming May and economical OLED panels. A few days before, Samsung also announced their plans of re-injecting 866 million euros to develop a new 5.5 generation line of OLED panels. The plant in Chungcheong province (Tangjeong) will be producing 1,320 mm × 1,500 mm OLED panels. read more

HTC Desire and Legend to be released for UK’s Vodafone in April

UK’s Vodafone says that HTC’s Desire and Legend phones will be released on April. The Desire has a 3.2″ touch AMOLED (480×320) and a 5Mp camera, while the Legend has a larger 3.7″ AMOLED (800×480) and a 1Ghz CPU. Both phones are running the Android 2.1 OS. Interestingly The Legend (that phone is exclusive for Vodafone UK) will include Vodafone’s own 360 social service on top of the Sense UI. HTC Desire We do not know how much the phones will cost, but if you want them unlocked, Amazon will offer then for $601 (Legend) and $795 (Desire). Via Electronista
