Samsung’s Epic 4G Touch ( Galaxy S2 variant) is now shipping for Sprint – for $199 . The Epic 4G Touch offers a a 4.5″ WVGA Super AMOLED plus display, 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, NFC, Bluetooth 3 and HSPA+. It’s only 8.49mm thick at its thinnest point.

Samsung’s Galaxy S II finally comes to the US

Samsung’s popular Galaxy S II smartphone is finally coming to the US – to AT&T, Sprint and T-Mobile. Sprint’s version (called the Epic 4G) and T-Mobile’s version use a 4.52″ display, and AT&T’s version will use the regular 4.3″ panel. Sprint will be the first to launch it – on September 16th for $200. The Galaxy S II has a 1.2Ghz processor, Android Gingerbread, 16GB of internal storage and WiMax (Sprint) or HSPA (T-Mobile and AT&T). The display is a 4.3″ (or 4.52″) Super AMOLED Plus .

Samsung Electronics says that they expects to start selling the Galaxy S II in the US in August. The S II is Samsung’s quickest selling phone – selling 3 million units just 55 days after its release . Samsung’s Galaxy S2 is the successor to the popular Galaxy S . It has a 4.3″ WVGA Super AMOLED plus display, 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, NFC, Bluetooth 3 and HSPA+. It’s only 8.49mm thick at its thinnest point. read more

Samsung sold 3 million Galaxy S II phones in 55 days

Samsung Electronics says that they have sold 3 million units of the Galaxy S II – just 55 days after its release. That’s one unit per 1.5 seconds. The S II is Samsung’s quickest selling phone – much faster than the Galaxy S which took 85 days to reach 3 million units. The company originally planned to sell 10 million units in 2011 , but it seems that they will surpass that number… read more

Samsung’s Galaxy S2 to ship in the UK on March 31st?

According to Play.com , Samsung’s Galaxy S2 will ship on March 31st. The price is £600 for an unlocked phone (no contract). If true this will probably be the first Super AMOLED Plus phone that actually ships. The Galaxy S2 has a WVGA 4.3″ Super AMOLED plus display, 1Ghz dual-core processor, NFC, Bluetooth 3 and HSPA+. It’s only 8.49mm thick at its thinnest point.

Sony PSP2 to have an OLED display?

There are some reports from Japan that the new Sony PSP2 mobile gaming console will have an OLED display. The report says that the display will be ‘larger than normal’ – the original PSP has a 3.8″ (480×272) LCD, so we assume that the OLED will be 4″ or more. Sony are expected to announce the new PSP later this week. Other unofficial features include 3G support (for over-the-air multiplayer gaming and game downloads) and Wi-Fi. This is not the Playstation Phone that is also expected from Sony, and the PSP2 will not include phone capabilities.

Samsung says that they will show new phones in the Mobile World Congress (on February) – that will use Super AMOLED Plus displays. The phones will also feature Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) and dual-code processors. The company also plans to announce new tablet computers (not clear whether they’ll also do so in the MWC exhibition or at a later date) – new Galaxy Tabs. No word on the display used in those, but we know that Samsung will soon produce 7″ Super AMOLED panels … read more

Another week, new phone rumors. This time we hear that the Nokia N9 will be a fast (190M polygons/s – the N8 supports only 35M/s) MeeGo device with 12mp camera, 1GB ROM, 190M polygons/s. And the display? a 4.2″ AMOLED – with no information on resolution and whether CBD or not.
