Samsung to unveil the Galaxy S2 successor during the first half of 2012

There are already speculations about the Galaxy S III specifications , and now Samsung says they are indeed working on a successor to the Galaxy S2. They won’t unveil it at the Mobile World Congress 2012 – but rather in a separate event during the first half of 2012, closer to the commercial availability. It will be very interesting to see Samsung’s new flagship phone, and obviously we’re mostly interested in the display. Will it be a Super AMOLED HD , or will Samsung surprise us with some new technology? Maybe the S3 will be the first phone with a plastic based flexible AMOLED ? We’ll have to wait a few months to find out… read more

The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is headed for Verizon with LTE

There are reports that Samsung’s Super AMOLED plus packing Tab 7.7 is headed towards Verizon – and this particular model will support LTE. Last week we reported that an unlocked 3G model is now available fore pre-orders on Negri Electronics , for $668. We’re not sure if all these reports are real, but the tablet sure is coming soon (it did arrive in the FCC for testing and approval weeks ago ). The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the world’s first tablet with an OLED display, a 7.7″ Super AMOLED Plus panel, offering 1280×800 resolution. Other specs include Android v2.3, Dual-core 1.4 Ghz processor, HSPA+ radio, 16GB to 64GB internal storage and a microSD slot, Wi-Fi, GPS and two cameras (3MP and 2MP). read more

Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 7.7 ready for pre-orders?

A few weeks ago we reported that Samsung’s Super AMOLED plus packing tablet has arrived at the FCC for testing and approval. We still do not have an official release date or price – but the Tab 7.7 (or P6800) has popped up for pre-order on Negri Electronics – for $668.50 (for the unlocked 3G 16GB version). We’re not sure if this is legit, but if so – it probably means that the first OLED tablet will be released soon… The Galaxy Tab 7.7 is the world’s first tablet with an OLED display, a 7.7″ Super AMOLED Plus panel, offering 1280×800 resolution. Other specs include Android v2.3, Dual-core 1.4 Ghz processor, HSPA+ radio, 16GB to 64GB internal storage and a microSD slot, Wi-Fi, GPS and two cameras (3MP and 2MP).

Samsung – we sold over 30 million Galaxy S and SII phones

Samsung announced that it has sold over 30 million Galaxy S and Galaxy S II phones worldwide. It was just a month ago that Samsung announced it has sold over 10 million SII phones , so we can assume that Galaxy S sales have reached almost 20 million units (and this phone is still on sale). The Galaxy-S has a 1 Ghz processor and a large 4″ Super-AMOLED display, while the Galaxy S II has a 4.3″ WVGA Super AMOLED plus display, 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, NFC, Bluetooth 3 and HSPA+. It’s only 8.49mm thick at its thinnest point. read more

AT&T is finally offering Samsung’s flagship Galaxy S2 smartphone – for $200 (with a 2-year contract). The Galaxy S2 is the successor to the Galaxy S . It has a 4.3″ WVGA Super AMOLED plus display, 1.2Ghz dual-core processor, NFC, Bluetooth 3 and HSPA+. It’s only 8.49mm thick at its thinnest point. The Galaxy S2 is also available for Sprint (it’s called Epic 4G Touch, has a 4.5″ display and costs $199 ). You can buy it unlocked for $608 .

Samsung Electronics says that today they sold their 10 millionth Galaxy S2 smartphone. The S2 is the fastest selling phone ever for Samsung (the Star phone took 6 month to reach 10 million sales, and the Galaxy S took 7 months). The company also revealed that they sold 3.6 units in Korea, 3.4 units in Europe and 2.3 million in Asia. It just started selling in the US in the past few days… Samsung’s Galaxy S2 is the successor to the popular Galaxy S . Samsung – 5 million Galaxy S II sold in 85 days

Samsung announced that they sold 5 million Galaxy S II phones – in just 85 days (on July 22nd). That’s a lot faster than the Galaxy S – which took 125 days to sell 5 million. The Galaxy S took 7 months to reach 10 million units – and Samsung says that the S II is expected to reach that amount sooner too. The S II isn’t selling in the US yet … The SII sold 3 million units in 55 days – they sold 2 million in just 30 days – so sales are actually accelerating as Samsung introduces the phone into more and more markets. In this rate the will cross the 10 million mark soon, beating Samsung’s own original expectations . read more

Samsung Electronics says that they have sold 3 million units of the Galaxy S II – just 55 days after its release. That’s one unit per 1.5 seconds. The S II is Samsung’s quickest selling phone – much faster than the Galaxy S which took 85 days to reach 3 million units. The company originally planned to sell 10 million units in 2011 , but it seems that they will surpass that number… read more

Samsung has posted their 3Q 2010 reports – a record $35.8 billion in revenue, and a record profit of $3.96. Samsung still iterates their target of 10 million Galaxy S phones in 2010 . Earlier in October, Samsung said they sold over 5 million Galaxy S , and obviously they’re hoping for a good holiday season. Let’s hope they can make enough Super-AMOLED displays.
