Panasonic’s DMC GX8 is a dustproof and splashproof micro four thirds camera that features a 20.3 MP sensor, dual-IS feature for effective shake reduction, maximum ISO of 25,600, Wi-Fi, NFC and 4K video support. The DMC GX8 has two OLED displays – a tilting 1024◊768 OLED EVF and an articulated 3″ AMOLED touch display. The DMC-GX8 will ship in August for $1199.99 (body only).

ETNews posted the following chart, showing what seems to be LG Display’s own forecasts for UHD (4K) OLED TV production from 2014 to 2020. These are just 4K OLED TVs – LGD still produces Full-HD OLEDs as well (for example in 2015, LGD plans to produce 86,000 FHD TVs, bringing the total number of OLED TV produced to 600,000 ). According to the OLED Association LG indeed managed to increase production yields of 4K OLEDs . LG Electronics continues to push OLED TV prices down, and now Amazon lists the 2015-model UHD (4K) 65″ curved OLED TV ( 65EG9600 ) at $6,999 , or down $2,000 from the original $8,999 price. LG’s EG9600 TVs were introduced at CES 2015, featuring a new anti-glare filter, webOS 2.0 OS and quad-core CPUs. The 55″ model, (55EG9600) is shipping for $4,499 . The MX5 is Meizu’s flagship smartphone for 2015. It features a 5.5″ Full-HD (441 PPI) Super AMOLED display, an Octa-Core CPU, 3GB of RAM, 20.7mp main camera, dual-SIM and Android 5.0. The MX5 will ship in early July in China for ¬•1790 ($289) for the 16GB model.

Sony’s RX100 IV is the fourth-gen high-end compact camera. Features include a 20.1 mp sensor, 24-70 mm equivalent F1.8-2.8 lens, 16fps burst rate and 4K video. The camera sports a pop-up XGA OLED viewfinder . Sony’s RX100 IV will ship in July 2015 for $949.

Sony’s a7R II is a 42.4mp mirrorless camera with a full-frame sensor. It has several enhancements compared to previous models – such as 4K video support, faster autofocus, revised shutter mechanism and higher ISO range. The EVF uses an upgraded XGA OLED microdisplay with†a double-sided aspherical lens. The a7R II will ship by August 2015 for around $3,200.

IHS says that flexible AMOLED shipments reaching about 25 million displays in 2015, or 11% of the total AMOLED market in 2015. AMOLED shipments will grow to about 400 million in 2019, and flexible OLEDs shipments will grow to over 100 million units – or over 25% of the total AMOLED market. Device makers are adopting flexible OLEDs in smartphones and wearables , to differentiate their products from those that use rigid displays. Flexible OLEDs are especially useful in mobile devices because they are thinner and lighter – and of course they enable new design options. Audi’s Head of Electronics Ricky Hudi, says that the upcoming 2017 A8 Saloon car will sport several new technologies – including OLED lighting . Or at least the company is “working on the integration of OLEDs” for the 2017 flagship model. Audi OLED lighting concept, 2012 Audi has been playing with OLED technologies for a long time. Back in 2012 they unveiled three new OLED lighting designs , and in 2013 they unveiled 3D OLED lighting taillight prototypes (developed with Philips and Merck). In 2012 Audi also installed AMOLED digital rear view “mirrors” in their R18 sports prototype cars . It’ll be interesting to see if the upcoming A8 will use one of these designs. A couple of months ago, LG said that they aim to unveil HDR OLED TVs in Q3 2015 – with a higher brightness compared to regular OLED TVs. Now LG says that their new EG9600 OLED TVs will soon be getting HDR support – via a firmware upgrade. LG did not disclose when this will happen exactly – but they will release the upgrade “once technical specifications for HDR are finalized”.
