The Fraunhofer institute plans to set up a roll-to-roll OLED fabrication line

The Fraunhofer IPMS announced plans to set up roll-to-roll OLED equipment for 30cm-wide metal foil substrate in December. The new equipment will allow films to be formed continuously.

Rogers Wireless in Canada is the first north-American carrier to sell the Nokia N86 , on their 3G HSPA network. It sells for $100 (with a 3 year plan that includes a data plan). Nokia N86 The N86 can also be bought unlocked in the US for 395$ .

Amazon now lists the Samsung Moment for only $79.99 – with a new Sprint plan, down from $179.99. It can also be bought without a plan (for $430). The Moment has a 3.2" touch OLED, full QWERTY slider, 3.2mp camera, microSDHC slot, Wi-Fi and GPS

Researchers drive an OLED display using Carbon Nanotubes

Researchers from the University of Southern California has created a large functional array of transistors made using simple solution-processing methods from carbon nanotubes. These have been used to drive a simple 4" OLED display, and the group is now working towards a ‘truly integrate’ OLED display that is both flexible and transparent. Carbon Nanotubes is a promising material for making control cibruit for displays – they are efficient, and can be used to make flexible and transparent displays. Now the USC researchers have found an ‘easy’ way to make large arrays of transistors with good performance

Merck, Applied Materials and the Braunschweig University of Technology has been awarded a grant by the German government to develop processes to lower the cost of manufacturing large-area and efficient OLED Lighting for general illumination applications. The 3-year project is called Light InLine (or LILi)
