Semiconductor Energy Laboratory (SEL) Co Ltd showcased an three foldable  OLED display  at Display Innovation 2014, a trade show that runs from Oct 29 to 31, 2014, in Yokohama City, Japan. At the SID-2014 SEL and Nokia introduced a 5.9 inch three foldable AMOLED DIsplay, now SEL is ready to introduce a larger display with added touch panel function. SEL is proud to introduce a 8.7 inch foldable OLED DIsplay with a 1080×1920 pixel resolution with 254ppi. The first version which SEL showcased at SID-2014 has a  1,280 x 720 pixel resolution by 249ppi. The company use a c-axis aligned oxide semiconductor for the backplane. The gate driver is formed on a substrate, and its source driver is realized by COF (chip on film). The thickness mass and aperture ratio of the display are 100μm or less, 6g and 46%, respectively. The color display is realized by combining a color filter and white OLEDs having a tandem structure. SEL use a top emission type and a capacitive touch panel for the first time. Source The display is made by forming a release layer, sealing layer and color filter layer in this order on a glass substrate
